Why is work done maximum when the body is displaced in the direction of force??

Answer:

Only that component of force is thus taken which is in the direction in which the body is displaced. So work done by a particular force will be maximum if it is at an angle 0° with the direction of displacement and thus the whole force is concentrated in displacing the body
