The particles in transverse waves move perpendicularly(90°) to the direction of propagation. as there is no mechanism for driving motion perpendicular to the propagation of the wave in liquid and gases. Thats why it cant producce in fluids

The particles in transverse waves move perpendicularly to the direction of propagation so it cannot propagate in a gas or a liquid because there is no mechanism for driving motion perpendicular to the propagation of the wave. ... Trasverse waves(light) is produced and passed through gas and water.
