due to friction and viscousity

It is because of viscosity. It is the internal friction of a fluid. The more viscous something is, the more difficult it is to move. Water has low viscosity so you can easily pour it from a container. Oil has high viscosity. Honey has high viscosity so it is difficult to pour it. The more viscous a fluid is the more resistance it is to movement.
