The distribution of rainfall uneven in India due to the following reasons: Latitudinal extent: The tropical and coastal regions and plains receive more rainfall than the plateau and desert regions in the interior. Relief and topography: The windward side of mountains and hills receive more rainfall than leeward side.
The vagaries of the monsoon:The unpredictability of the monsoon alongwith phenomena like monsoon troughs and depressions lead to uneven distribution of rainfall.
Rainfall depends on following factors which affect rainfall chances:-
1) amount of water to be evaporated i.e rate of evaporation
2) wind speed and direction
3) clouds movement
