why it is important to have smooth reflecting surface to verify law of reflection of sound​

we know by law of reflection of sound that angle of incidence is equal to angle to angle of reflection so to verify it we need smooth surface and not rough which will deviate sound waves in many other directions thats not a case witb smooth surface
