It is important to keep one's language alive because as long as one has one's own language, it is like having the key to a prison. It becomes not just a force uniting the people but also a cultural identity that separates the oppressed from the oppressor. A lot of languages have been lost due to the effect of westernization and globalization. Today, more and more people are learning languages like English that is useful to them in a utilitarian manner than keep their native languages alive. Colonization maybe blamed to a large extent, in India's case. The colonizers imposed English upon the colonized which has resulted in the 'looking up' of this and 'looking down' of indigenous languages, thus resulting in their slow demise.

In all around the world, there are endless number of languages that people speak. It is very important to keep one's language alive i.e. preservation of the language so that it do not get unnoticed.

Language is basically an important factor which help people communicating with their loved ones and express themselves in a better way.

When there is not link of a particular type of language between two people or if the language which they are able to speak isn't kept alive, it may be possible that the future generations would face difficulty in expressing themselves.
