Answer:

Hello ✌️

Explanation:

Gametes are the cells used during sexual reproduction to produce a new individual organism or zygote. The male gamete, sperm, is a smaller, mobile cell that meets up with the much larger and less mobile female gamete, egg or ova. Both sperm and egg are only haploid cells. They only carry half of the chromosomes needed.

OK, so the division of chromosomes into two parts is known as reduction division. This is very necessary because if the parents chromosome would have not been divided, the baby would have got twice the number of chromosomes required for the survival. So to overcome this problem the parents chromosomes goes under reduction division. The result formed during division (which is known as gametes) gives half of the number of chromosomes of each mum and dad and when this fuse with each other the baby gets the number of chromosomes equal to her mum or dad.

In a nutshell during sexual reproduction the gamete formation takes place as to restore the amount of DNA of that gene pool.
