why it is necessary to increase the area under cultivation?

We need to increase area under cultivation bcoz more the area and more wil be the crop produced.And more the crop production more it will be beneficial for the farmer.The farmer will gain more profit.

Land being a natural resource it is necessary to be very careful in its use 
Scientific reports indicate that  modern  farming methods have overused the natural resource base .
In many areas Green Revolution is associated with the loss of soil fertility due to increased use of chemical  fertilizers  also continuous use of groundwater for tube well irrigation has reduced the water table below the ground .
so once destroyed it is very difficult to restore them .
So when farmers cultivate a piece of land , it gets destroyed due to the above reasons 
and then he extends the cultivated land so that he can grow some other crop by the time the destroyed one restores .
