as we know, mammals and birds are warm blooded animals. they use energy constantly to maintain their body temperature. as they have more energy need, so it will require more oxygen to produce energy. oxygenated blood has more oxygen. thus, this is very important that the oxygenated blood does not get mixed up with deoxygenated blood.
