Origin of Name:

Punjab was named because of five rivers, are Sutlej, Ravi, Beas, Chenab and Jhelum.

Partition:

In 1947, the Punjab Province of British India was divided along religious lines into West Punjab and East Punjab. The western part was included into new country of Pakistan while the east stayed in India. The Indian Punjab was divided on the basis of language in 1966. It was divided into 3 parts. Haryanvi speaking areas (dialect of Hindi) were carved out as Haryana, Hilly regions and Pahari speaking areas formed Himachal Pradesh alongside the current state of Punjab.

Conclusion:

Chenab and Jhelum now forms in the upper Himalayas in India, but flows through district of Jammu region in Jammu and Kashmir into the plains of the Punjab, Pakistan. Now only three rivers Sutlej, Ravi, Beas, flows through Punjab, India. That’s why Punjab word become incorrect after the partition.......plss mark my as the brainlist
