The Traditions as well as Cultures are distinct, unique and diverse to different
societies. The traditions and culture are the features that make a society
special. Each society has its own unique culture. The term altogether used to
distinguish a tribe or group from one another is what we call “Cultural
Tradition.”
Situated in the north-eastern part of the great country India is the state of my
people. This is the land where I was born. The land with numerous great
stories and great men. Just like our country India, its beautiful state Assam
has a rich flora and fauna. It is woven in rich cultures and traditions. It has a
unique and magnificent cultural tradition. The beauty of this land is
indescribable. As a matter of fact, one can only understand its splendor when
seeing it with one’s own eyes.
Assam has a diverse group of people practicing different faiths, norms, beliefs
and cultures. There are numerous tribes and societies that have rich cultural
traditions that are unique and very important to the people. It marks the pride
and authenticity of Assam. Hence, it is very important to preserve and
promote the cultural traditions of Assam. It is our responsibility to help the
government preserve and promote Assam’s cultural traditions.
Here are some ways by which we can preserve and promote the cultural
traditions of Assam-
The first and foremost thing we can do is to learn our native language
properly. We should be fluent in speaking our own mother tongue as well as
be able to write our native script. And we all must know to speak and write
our state’s language- Assamese. If we don’t know our native language fluently,
how can we represent our cultures and traditions?
We should try learning our traditions, cultural practices and the folk songs of
our tribes. We should know our tribal practices, beliefs, our tribal stories and
all the other customs related to the history of our tribe.
