why it is told that only red ants bite, is it true , why

no , it is not true all ants can bite they all have defensive mechanism and can bite with their Jaws or can spray formic acid by sting, but it depend on their type whether they are worker, soldier or reproducer. but some species of ants can be more aggressive than the others and it can be the case with the red ants ( Myrmica genus).

Because the sting of red ants contains formic acid .And when it bites formic acid comes in contact with skin it causes burning sensation.
Many insects don't have formic acid in their stings .
Black ants don't have formic acid in their stings.
Hence ,it is truely told that red ant bites other 5han black ants.
