This is because this pigment would not give us the accurate results , and would make alterations in the results to be obtained. Hence, by removing cholorophyll from the leaves , we can obtain the most accurate result.

It is necessary to remove the chlorophyll (aka the green pigment) from the leaf particularly in a starch test because it’s presence will give us incorrect observations which will not conclude the results of the starch production.
