why it's important to know that the category to which an infectious agent of a disease belong
Answers
Why to categorize infectious Agent:
Each group of organisms have some common features and many similar biochemical pathways.
As a result, a drug that blocks one of the biochemical pathways of a pathogen of a group would be effective against many other members of that group.
E.g., Antibiotics are used for killing bacteria. The antibiotic penicillin blocks the bacterial process of cell wall formation. As a result, the growing bacteria become unable to make cell wall, and die easily. Human cells do not make cell wall, so penicillin cannot have such an effect on us.
Antibiotics are not effective against viruses, because viruses do not use metabolic pathways of bacteria.
