The Jallianwala Bagh massacre is widely seen as a turning point in the Indian national movement, which brought out the cruel and oppressive face of the "British Raj", highlighting the claims that the British Raj is a boon for Indians.

When this massacre was happening in Jallianwala Bagh, Udham Singh was present there and he was also shot. He decided that he would avenge it. On 13 March 1940, he shot and killed British Lt. Governor Michael O'Dwyer during the incident at Caxton Hall, London.
