Shakespeare gives us a little taste of life at Shylock's in Act2 Scene5, when Shylock and Jessica appear onstage together, Shylock barks orders at his daughter (while screaming at his servant). He demands that Jessica stay inside and "lock up [the] doors" so the sounds of music don't drift in from the streets. She wants to marry a christain boy which her father disagrees and she even hate her father's "rude" manners.she had stole her dead mother's ring just to marry the boy. She ran away because all of these reasons.

Jessica’s dilemma concerning her father is the conflict between her hatred for her father and her love for Lorenzo. She is ashamed of being the daughter of a Jew, Shylock. She is the daughter of Shylock by birth but she does not want to be like her in behavior his behaviors. She thinking of Lorenzo says to herself that if her Christian lover, Lorenzo keeps the promise then she shall end the strife of loyalty to Shylock, her father and Lorenzo.
