Independence of judiciary is essential in a democracy so that it does not act under the control and direction of the legislature or the executive. The judge do not act according to the wishes of the government, i.e. the party in power.
Highest Court of justice and hears appeals against High Court decisions, civil and criminal cases. Guardian of our constitution and fundamental rights. It can declare any law of the legislature or executive invalid. People can approach Supreme Court if their rights are violated.
