Jute commonly known as the golden fibre of India due to its special properties and appearance. Jute is eco - friendly as it is biodegradable and recyclable. It's shiny golden colour also gives it this name.

Jute is called golden fibre because of following three reasons :-
1. Due to its yellowish golden colour.
2. It was very expensive earlier . ( compared to gold).
3. Jute was the only material used to make bags at the time of Independence of India , around 1948.
