Why k has tendency to lose electron ?

see ideal conf is like 2,8,8,18...so on .its electronic configuration is 2,8,9 ...it has 1 extra electron ...which makes it donor..

atomic number of potassium is 19 so its electronic configuration is 2, 8, 8, 1 so looking at the above electronic configuration we can see that there are two possibilities for Potassium either it can gain 7 electrons to attain stable configuration or it can lose 1 electron to attain stable configuration since we know that losing of one electron is much more easier than gaining of 7 electrons that's why potassium has tendency to lose electron rather than gaining
