King ashoka was been a cruel minded person who just wanted power and in order to achieve that he had gone to any extent. The war of kalinga which he was considered the greatest battle he had ever fought resulted in nothing but a massacre of thousands of people and their blood flowed through plains like a river. Watching all this had melted the great emperors heart and made him leave his current way and choose another way called peace. Then he began to spread peace all over the country through his dharmas, sasanas ,stupas and planting trees.
