KANAUJ IS KNOW AS AN IMPORTANT CITY BECAUSE DURING KING HARSHAVARDHANA'S RULE IT WAS HIS CAPITAL. IT WAS RICH IN SOURCES LIKE MINERALS, ALLUVIAL SOIL AND THE PLACE WAS VERY FERTILE DUE TO THE PRESENCE OF SEVERAL RIVERS. EVEN AFTER THE END OF HARSHAVARDHA'S REIGN AND KINGDOM IT WAS A SOURCE FOR WHICH A GRAND BATTLE TOOK PLACE CALLED TRIPARTITE STRUGGLE.
