Kerala has a better Human Development ranking in comparison to that of Maharashtra because it has a high literacy rate by which they get better jobs than Maharashtra and also have better education than Maharashtra

• maximum NRI population
• minimum infant mortality
• better hygiene conditions.
• minimum difference in lifestyle between cities and villages.

All these together contribute to have a better HDI (Human Development Index) in kerala than of maharashtra.
