Kerala state is densely populated because :
(1) Flat plains : Kerala has flat plains. It is easy to lay down railway lines or build roads on flat land. Therefore, dense network of transport is available.
(2) Fertile soils : Food crops such as rice are grown in abundance to fulfil the basic need of the people. Other crops such as tea, coffee,- rubber, spices are also grown here.
(3) Abundant rainfall : Due to abundant rainfall, fields are irrigated. People do not face the problem of water scarcity.
