Becoz kerosene contains only saturated hydrocarbons.
● Explanation -
- Unsaturated hydrocarbons decolorize bromine water as Br2 gets added to C=C bond.
- Saturated hydrocarbons dont have double/triple bonds hence cant decolorise bromine water.
- As cooking oils contain some unsaturated hydrocarbons, they decolorise bromine water.
- As kerosene contains only saturated hydrocarbons, it can't decolorize bromine water.
