It is because ketchup goes a chemical reaction with aluminium(Since aluminium is a highly reactive metal), further, aluminium gets mixed up with it, making it not fit for consumption.

It's not ok to cook anything with tomato , vinegar or reduce wine because the acid will cause aluminium to leach into the food ............A layer of Aluminium oxide is formed on the surface of the aluminium which prevents for the reaction. so the food stored in the containers do not react further with the aluminium.
