Ammonia produced by metabolism is converted into urea in the liver of these animals and released into the blood which is filtered and excreted out by the kidneys. Therefore kidneys do not play any significant role.

Hope it helps.

ItsmeNiha: Ammonia produced in the kidney is either excreted into the urine or returned to the systemic circulation through the renal veins.
