Pressure is equal to force by area , That is Pressure is directly proportional to force applied and surface area of contact.

Knifes are made to cut objects and to cut object there should be greater pressure on the object .

To apply greater pressure , there must be a less surface area of contact .

Knife edges are sharper to have less area of contact , so now, less area of contact means greater pressure .

therefore , Knife edges are sharper because they must apply a greater pressure on the objects .
