Why kreb cycle is called TCA cycle

Kreb's cycle is called tricarboxylic acid cycle because the citric acid is both the first product and final product which contains three carboxyl groups.

  • First step in Krebs cycle is formation of citric acid from acetyl Co-A and oxaloacetate.
