why laterite soil are not fertile​

Due to the high rate of weathering, and resulting low charge minerals, the soil is unable to retain the nutrients needed for plant. Because laterite soils lack moisture and humus due to high temperature and hence micro organisms die making it infertile.

these soils are present in the area with heavy rainfall this the reason is that they contain less fertility and also presence of more iron content
