Laterite soils are those soils which are found in the areas which receive high rainfall and have very high temperature.
Due to high temperature , many micro organisms in the soil die.
This results in the less humus content in the soil.
Also , they have excess amount of iron in them .
Hence , they are not fertile soil and are not suitable for cultivation.
they can be used for cultivation if adequate amounts of fertilizers and manures are added to it .

The Laterite soil is not so fertile because there is less content of Humus and the soil is typically nutriesnt poor. Due to the high rate of weathering, and resulting low charge minerals, the soil is unable to retain the nutrients needed for plant growth
