why Laxman did gave Mani Ram's scales

Explanation:

Laxman had not thought it would be so easy to fool Mani Ram. When Mani Ram asked for a favour, he was happy to agree. I have to go out of town. I'm afraid someone will steal these weighing scales while I'm away.
