lead is not used in the preparation of hydrogen because lead reacts with dilute sulphuric or hydrochloric acid and forms an insoluble coating of lead sulphate or lead chloride. therefore, the further reaction is prevented.

Answer:

Dilute sulfuric acid reacts with metals like other mineral acids, liberating hydrogen gas. Concentrated sulfuric acid can also dissolve some noble metals such as copper, silver, and mercury liberating sulfur dioxide (SO2).
