A leap year is a calender year containing one additional day added to keep the calender year.

arpitr689: thanks
ogr: approx 365 days and 6 hours
arpitr689: where r u frm?
ogr: so in four years 6 becomes 24 which is equal to a day so we add a day and this year is called leap year

Actually, there is no extra day in a leap year. Every year has 365 days and 6 hours extra. and as you know a day consists of 24 hours that is 4 times 6. Hence, it was decided to add an extra day to the 4th year and started to call it a leap year
