❔ Why leaves often contains starch ?
➡ In the leaf, excess glucose is rapidly converted to starch. During photosynthesis, plants produce glucose and oxygen, reacting with water and Carbon dioxide i.e. CO2. But, during this process, plants often change some of the glucose into starch, for storage.

Leaf is called the kitchen of the plant.
Leaf prepares food by the process of photosynthesis. The immediate product of photosynthesis is glucose. This glucose is either used up in the process of respiration or is stored in the form of insoluble starch.
This starch can be later converted back to glucose and used by the plants. Hence we find the presence of starch in the leaves during the iodine paper test.
