why lemon and tamarind is uswd for leaning the copper pots or vessels

lemon contain citric acid when copper pot or vessel react with air it form basic oxide in its outermost layer in copper vessel so as to neutralize the reaction when the acid react with base it form salt and water that's why lemon and tomato used for cleaning the copper vessel and pot
