1. The respiration which takes place in the absence of oxygen or without oxygen is known as Anaerobic respiration.
2.This type of reproduction takes place through glycolisis and fermentation.
3. Pyruvic acid produced through glycolisis is converted into other organic acids or alcohol this called as fermentation.
4. Glucose is incompletely oxidized and therefore less amount of energy is produced in this type of respiration.
5. Our muscle cells perform anaerobic respiration during exercise. Due to this less amount of energy is produced in our body and lactic acid accumulates due to which we feel tired.
6. some higher plants,animals and aerobic microorganisms also perform anaerobic respiration instead of aerobic respiration if there is depletion of oxygen level in the surrounding.
