Why literacy rate is high among the males of India?

because many people in india think that females should not be teachen because their work is household chores and therefore they send boys to school and did not allowed girls to study.
as a result  literacy rate is high among the males of India

This is so because in India discrimination between male and female is still practiced. Some people with orthodox principals do not want a girl to learn and explore new things.

They still want to keep a woman barred in a house. They think that a woman is made only to do household works and not for study and doing jobs. Another major reason is the fact, that still some people don't want a girl child, because of the dowry system, so in case if a girl is born they do not send her to a school so that later on they can manage to give dowry.

Another major reason is a wide difference between the sex ratio. So, the number of women is less and also their literacy rate.  

Due to these reason a girl is not send to school and thus the woman literacy rate is low as compared to males.

Note:- This observation takes into consideration the thoughts of the orthodox people in India.
