Krishna took sudarshana chakra to kill Bheeshma. ... He said if Arjuna is reluctant to fight Bheeshma he would kill Bheeshma and he took his weapon. The whole episode is to help Arjuna realise 1) Krishna will fight in case Arjuna is reluctant and 2) to remind Arjuna that it is GOD's war and Arjuna is just an instrument.
