Why did Louis XVI call the meeting of estate General?

{ \huge{ \fbox{ \tt{ \purple{Answer:-}}}}}

Louis XVI called the meeting of The Estate General as he wanted to introduce one more tax.

The reason for the want of one more tax is that the French treasury was empty , as they were :

  1. Helping 13 American colonies to get freedom from British rule
  2. Maintenance of the place of Versailles and it's court was very costly
  3. Long years of wars had drained the financial resources.

⚜️ Additional information :

  • Louis XVI was the last king of France. After him there were only political leaders.
  • Louis XVI was the youngest king to take up the throne of France.
  • The third estate didn't want to pay one more tax as they were already paying 3 taxes namely the tithe , taille and the direct tax.
  • There was a rule of one while estate giving one vote , which was unjust so the third estate requested for 1 person 1 vote and 1 vote 1 value , but this was denied by upper two classes and then the third estate walked out of the Estate General and here French revolution began.
