Reversibility. Lyophilic : Reversible, because on evaporating the liquid, the residue left will passes into colloidalstate on addition of liquid. Lyophobic :Irreversible, because on evaporating the liquid, the residue left cannot be converted into solution on mere addition of liquid.25

Lyophilic sols are reformed by simple mixing whereas Lyophobic sols can not be reformed by simple mixing.

Explanation:

Lyophilic sols are formed directly by mixing of dispersed phase and dispersion medium. They are quite stable and thus cannot be coagulated easily. Lyophilic sols are also called as reversible colloids in nature i.e. they can be reformed if they are precipitated by simple mixing.

Lyophobic sols can only be formed by special methods and cannot be directly prepared. They are easily precipitated by addition of small amount of electrolyte. Lyophobic sols are also called as irreversible colloids in nature i.e. they can not be reformed if they are precipitated by simple mixing.
