Why lysosomes are called graveyard of the cell?

lysosome is  involved in waste removal. Lysosomes are organelles that contain digestive enzymes. They digest excess or worn out organelles, food particles, and engulfed viruses or bacteria. basically the collect all waste materials . hence the name , graveyard!

Lysosomes are called Graveyard of the cell because their work is to combine with the vesicles containing food, worn out cells, pathogens and other waste products and digest them. Also, it can result in the auto digestion of the complete cell due to which it is known by this name.
