Hi!

Machines are oiled frequently to reduce the friction.

adding oil lubricates the surface and thus reduce friction.

How lubricating reduce friction?

Lubricating that is adding oil or grease to surface spreads and fills the irregularities of surface and there by friction reduces.

Hope now you knew why they add oil to machines.

The machine are oiled time to time to reduce friction.

As friction produces heat

this friction can repeatedly damage the machine( as it is costly repair many machines in a factory )

so the machine are oiled to reduce heating and damage . (and also remove the squeaky noise )
