Explanation:

Nitric acid only react with the manganese and magnesium to produce the hydrogen gas.But we have to use very diluted nitric acid. Because,in the cases of the other metals, the oxygen molecule present in a nitric acid oxidizes the generated hydrogen gas into a water molecule.
