Why magnesium react with nitric acid to liberate hydrogen gas?

As magnesium has less reduction potential it can displace H2 gas from its compound . Mg act as reducing agent in this reaction

Since metals liberate Hydrogen gas when treated with acid. Mg being metal also liberate hydrogen gas when reacted with nitric acid.

sidkhojare: Not all metal react with acid to liberate h2 gas . only that metal which has less reduction potential liberates h2 gas . for example Cu , Ag , Au does not react with acid
