India receives most of its rainfall via southwest monsoon(around 80%). During southwest monsoon Malabar receives more that coromandel coast as western ghats block these rain bearing clouds and inducing orographic rainfall. ... However, coromandel coast also receives rainfall during winter months(north east monsoon).
