why many food sources are based on carbon compound​

Most of the food sources are carbon based. This is because the various biomolecules like proteins, nucleic acids, fats, vitamins etc consist of long chains of carbon atoms. In plants, food is stored in the form of starch, again carbon containing compound. Carbon, we know forms very strong bonds with itself.
