Why masulipatnam is known as machlipatnam

machlipatnm was earlier known as masulipatnam because masula kaaman means fish gate so being a old town or patnam it is called masulipatnam

masulipatnam and machlipatnam comes from words  Masula Kamaan meaning Fish Gate(Port). . it was such because the city was once a famous fishing port.
