Why mathmatics subject compulsory till 10th class?

Answer ⤵️

In 21st century, one of the most important skills required is the problem solving ability. It may be considered as a part of design thinking. Now, to solve a problem, one needs to think in a lateral and yet logical as well as abstract way. This is the essence of importance of mathematics- simply speaking, there are many methods to arrive at a solution and you tend to choose the easiest, shortest way to reach a correct solution. Training in mathematics is supposed to build your cognitive skills and fine tune them for this lateral, abstract, logical thinking. It trains to question and not accept anything without proof and hence develops critical thinking skills, again a 21st century skill.

Mathematics does not and should not tell you to accept e.g.: the formula of (a+b)^2 and just learn to substitute different values and ‘get the answer’ but to try different methods for the same and conclude that substitution in the formula is the easiest way so far. (Unfortunately, this is not how the subject is dealt with in formative years in most Indian educational systems.)

Some people are endowed with these skills and may excel without the subject training but most of the students do not have these skills and mathematics training may help them acquire these to some extent. This would help them in all the career paths.

Extra Information ⤵️

  • Physics, Chemistry and Biology are the toughest and most challenging subjects in class 10th.
  • Class 10th is much easier than class 9th. Even you can top the exam just by revising the syllabus thoroughly.
  • Math seems difficult because it takes time and energy. Many people don't experience sufficient time to "get" math lessons, and they fall behind as the teacher moves on. Many move on to study more complex concepts with a shaky foundation. We often end up with a weak structure that is doomed to collapse at some point.
  • Physics is by far the Hardest, Toughest and most challenging subject.
  • Gym,Art and English are the easiest subjects.
