The reason due to which 'Mawsynram' receives the 'highest rainfall in the world' is mainly due to the location where it is situated.

Explanation:

  • As it is located in the 'southern slopes of Khasi hills' and this place is bordered by 'hills on three sides'.
  • Thereby the wind that moves in south-west tries to surpass but gets hindered by the mountains, thereby the bay of Bengal monsoons get stuck to this place.
  • Mawsynram is credited as rain lover’s paradise as this place is always wet.
