Whn a neodymium mgnet is broght near a suspnded small glass tube (2.5 mL) containing 64 mg liquid oxygen, the tube is attractd to the magnt dmonstrtin oxygen’s paramagnetism. Larger amnts of liquid oxygen can be produced in a similar fashion using a sandwich bag filld with oxygen in place of a 60-mL syringe used to condense 64 mg oxygen. On the largr scale, the blue color
of liquid oxygen is readily observable by students.
